On Belay! Belay On!  Our Each One, Teach One adventures on rock gives mature climbers the opportunity to reaffirm belay skills and new climbers the opportunity to experience outdoor top rope climbing for the first time! 

Meet at Cragmont Park -

Drivers - - - Careful and park in safe spots along the street. Blind curve - - -

Wear-

  • Comfortable athletic clothes (jeans, baggy pants and nice clothes are not recommended) Sneakers/boots (No Crocs or Docs)

  • Sweatshirt/layer 

Bring:

  • Harness/ Shoes -if you have them

  • Journal

  • Snack & Water

Alternate Rain Location - Same space. There is a covered picnic area on the top of the park. We will host climbing class in this space.

On Belay?! Belay On! Today is the day to be on belay! Top rope climbing is a new experience in trust and confidence. After learning important safety information about equipment, knots, checks, and communication, everyone will get the opportunity to climb as high as they desire!

Wear-Comfortable athletic clothes (jeans, baggy pants and nice clothes are not recommended)

Bring: Harness/ Shoes -if you have them

Take!  Climbing confidence and voice confidence goes together like chocolate and roasted marshmallows! More opportunities to hear the voice from the top during our rope climbing excursion at Cragmont.  Test your memory, push your confidence! Get into your gear yourself and buddy check, meet at the bottom of the route!

Let’s get on the water. Today we are kayaking after a ground stroke school review water entry/exit and clean up we will paddle in the lagoon to learn Oakland donuts and paddling backwards!
 

Wear-    
•    Bathing suit under clothes to practice.  If participant is planning to use a wetsuit, limit frilly suits.  
    
•    Rash guards are great for cover up and protection. 
    
•    Aqua socks or strap back sandals are recommended.  
    
•    Sunscreen/hat
No crocs on the dock!

Bring-    
•    Water bottle (strap or carabiner is highly recommended)
    
•    Towel
    
•    Change of dry clothes
 

Parents: Arrive early if changing before practice is not feasible. Bathrooms are across from the corner of the SUP shop. Please allow for transition time before and after practice. 

Participants should use the bathroom, apply sunscreen and have bathing suits on prior to the start of practice. The shop is small, please do not bottleneck during transition. Allow for +10 mins for changing at the end of practice.

What is at the end of the trail?  This week we will start at the end and travel to the tunnel (and back).  It's a rocky and tricky terrain!  Bring your walking sticks, wear sneaker/hiking boots!

The weather kept us off the rock last week, but clear this week!  Let's take advantage of a day bouldering on Ohlone Land, Indian Rock.

Fundamentals and Footwork is magic when it all comes together. Now that we have going up and down on the slab, lets learn HOW to climb. Wear layers, bring/wear socks and sneakers. No crocs or slides. We will try on climbing shoes today!

What to Wear? —Layers!

  • Athletic Clothes - capris or outgrown sweats w/the bottom trim cut (no bellbottoms or jeans)

  • Sneakers (not crocs or sandals)

  • Jacket

  • Cap works too!

  • Bring snack, water bottle/warm tea
